The Boat House ~ Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport, Terminal 4, Concourse H
"This place is the opposite of good: too small, standing room only (literally), so dirty your natural instinct will be to start trying to clean the years of yuck that have built up on the tables. Bartenders can't keep up with the demand and your eating option is nathan's hot dogs... it's an experience for sure, but one that you won't want to experience again. The boat house = Fail."

Lefty's Colorado Trails ~ Denver International Airport, Concourse A
"Rather enjoyed this place. Sit on the bar side of the restaurant for table service. And for great service, hope that Alyssa is working. She is super helpful, fast and friendly. A refreshing change from the usual airport bar experience. Food is average. I enjoyed my breakfast sandwich. The beers were great. Decent selection and some local brews on tap which I appreciate. Tvs in most every corner and very close to gates and most importantly a bathroom. Perfect casual spot to have a few before the flight. Not bad lefty! "

DuClaw Brewing Company ~ Baltimore/Washington International Airport, Main Terminal, Near Southwest Ticket Counter
"I find it kind of cool to have a DuClaw brewery in our airport... too bad it's before security but not a big deal. If you aren't familiar with the brews, they offer a sampler where you can try small amounts of different beers. Good people watching opportunities from the bar, standard yet decent pub food and couple of tv's to distract. All in all a good experience and a place I'd go again, mostly to enjoy the beers. Also, if you're picking up someone from the airport, you could catch a drink while you wait. "

New Belgium Hub ~ Denver International Airport, Concourse B (far east side) near gate B 80
"As far as I’m concerned, there are exactly two things in life that are inexcusable. There is never a good reason to invade Russia in the wintertime, and there is never a good excuse for a half-empty airport bar to keep a rapidly-sobering-up flier waiting for eight--count ’em, eight--painful minutes before taking a drink order. (It was a shift change, but still. Fat kids can run a mile in eight minutes. What’s their excuse?)

Compounding my displeasure was the decor: exposed ductwork, blonde pine trim, muted pastel walls. If that’s your thing, super. But for me, it was like taking a trip back to the hottest gastropubs of 1987. The lack of wireless connectivity in the back room sucked, as did the painfully slow service. Maybe they’re trying to imitate European standards of efficiency. If that’s the case, it needs to stop.

The chef salad I ordered was totally unremarkable--not good, not bad, just meh. The one thing this place has going for it is some unusually good craft beers. I had their dark ale and I was impressed with how much punch it packed. So, to sum up, like Belgium itself, unless you’re already nearby, it’s probably not worth hauling your ass over there."

Yadkin Valley Wine Bar ~ Charlotte - Douglas International Airport, Atrium, East, Near Conc. E
"This is a great place if you like to taste new wines. They always have several reds and whites available for tasting. If you find something you like, you can buy a few bottles and carry them on your flight. Thanks to this place I never mind a little delay flying through Charlotte. "

Chef Jimmy's Bistro & Spirits ~ Denver International Airport, Concourse A
"When you think about it, there is no way hundreds of tons of steel, fuel, and flesh should propel themselves 30,000 feet over the ground for hours at a time. Don’t tell me about Bernoulli’s Principle. It’s just wrong. For that reason, like all sane people, I try to pack as much alcohol into my system as I can before a flight. Unfortunately, on a recent trip out of Denver, I only had about 10 minutes before my plane left from Gate 40. So I went to Chef Jimmy’s Bistro. I told the hostess, who told the waiter, who brought me a double Jack Daniels in four minutes flat. A second arrived, with the check, two minutes later. Four drinks in, I was able to stagger to my flight to Reagan National and fall fast asleep for takeoff. Huge props to “ Jimmy’s.”"

Anchor Bar ~ Buffalo Niagara International Airport, Upper Level, After Security
"If you are flying out of Buffalo, consider yourself lucky because you will finally get to experience what a true buffalo wing should taste like. This place is awesome! You will love their wings, they are the absolute best. If you aren't familiar with wings, this is the perfect place to be initiated. When they say that these are the best wings in the world, they aren't kidding. Be warned though, any wing you eat after this experience will never be as good. "

Perry’s ~ San Francisco International Airport, Terminal 1, Boarding Area C near Gate 42
"After a Dante-esque journey through Terminal 1 ticketing and security, I had 20 minutes to pack in breakfast and a couple of drinks. I was at an Irish wake the night before, and I desperately needed two fried eggs and three coffees-with-Jameson’s. Simple pleasures, sure, yet it’s amazing how many places screw it up. But Perry’s absolutely nailed it--and won me over. Maybe it was the dark wood on the bar and booths. Maybe it was the tiling on the floor, with its understated black and white patterns. Maybe it was the crisp linen napkins, heavy ceramic plates, and no-foolin metal silverware. But I think what really sealed the deal was Perry’s perfectly-cuffed zinc bar, a lovely throwback to the glory days of the City by the Bay. Be sure to chat up Carol, a friendly bartender who knows how to serve a customer in a hurry--and who has a nice, heavy pour, as well. Manager Ismail is on top of this place, and it shows. It’s rare that I’m reluctant to leave an airport bar, but Perry’s pulls off a remarkable feat: it captures the best aspects of the city it serves. Top shelf."

Home Turf ~ Sacramento International Airport, Terminal A (upper level)
"Pretty much what you'd expect. Got a couple beers and some nachos. Nothing spectacular about this place, just a bar to get a drink and some food. TVs surround and you can see most gates from your seat. Waitresses were fair and the prices were average, for an airport bar anyway. Nothing spectacular, but nothing negative either. "

Vino Volo ~ Sacramento International Airport, Terminal A, near gate A1
"Arriving at this oasis, I felt a certain amount of security and self awareness. It was like coming home after a long day in the tumbleweeds of society's headaches. Unfortunately, maybe it felt a little too homely, as almost immediately upon arriving my "wine expert" waitress informed me I was only allowed to order food. So I'm giving this place 2 stars, the same way my waitress gave me the finger.  Wines are expensive and the seating is pretentious. Had I had a bit more clarity I would have shown myself the door."

Legends of San Francisco ~ San Francisco International Airport, Terminal 1, Boarding Area B near Gate 31
"Tucked in the corner away from the main gates Legends touts their fresh made paninis and local beers on tab..pretty accurate. If you are looking for a mediocre caesar salad with chicken for $12.50 this is the spot. However, I would highly recommend super sizing your beer for an extra $2 totaling $5.49 for 23oz.
Happy travels..."

Lefty's Colorado Trails ~ Denver International Airport, Concourse A
"I should’ve known better. A place that looks this cheesy can only be counted on to sling lukewarm domestic drafts. But it was near my gate, and I didn’t want to have to hustle over to the Denver Chop House. But I really should have known better than to order the pork green chili. Now, my thinking went something like this: Why the hell would an airport bar put something so unusual on its menu if it couldn’t do it right? You know why? To f*#% over trusting innocents like myself. The chili was disgusting. Served boiling hot, it had the consistency of watery paste and smelled a little bit like vomit. It was really just a soup, thickened with flour, that had a couple hunks of canned pork waved in front of it shortly before it was plopped down on the bar. Hell, when the microwaved tortillas are better than the chili, you know you have a serious problem. The bartender managed to get three Boulder amber ales in front of me, but frankly, they should have been comped. They were the only way to get the taste of disgust out of my mouth."

Chef Jimmy's Bistro & Spirits ~ Denver International Airport, Concourse A
"When you first walk into Chef Jimmy’s, it doesn’t feel much like old-school Colorado. Me, what I want is a dusty cowpoke to sidle on in, order a redeye, and grumble something like, “Whiskey’s fer drinkin. Water’s fer fightin over.” But that’s not the way Jimmy’s feels. It’s got more a new-school, find-your-chakra kind of vibe. A little too nicely lit, with a good mix of recessed and low-hanging lights. The bar curves stylishly, and the rest of the seating avoids the grid pattern that makes your alcoholism seem so impersonal. (My addiction is not a number!) Fortunately, however, the longer you stay, the more old-school Colorado it gets. Cougars were all over the place, and the bartender was as cold and distant as the Rockies. Better yet, the guy asked if he could reuse my glass in between my Jack on the Rocks. Funny thing is, I think he recycled the ice, too. Come on, dude. If there’s one thing that you don’t need to skimp on in Denver, it’s gotta be rocks."

Miller Brewhouse ~ General Mitchell International Airport, Main Terminal
"I like Wisconsin. I do. It’s a magical land where soup is made of cheese and vegetarians are openly ridiculed. Nobody cares if the floor of your deer blind is covered with spent casings and empty whiskey bottles. I especially like Milwaukee, because its baseball team is the Brewers. If you don’t get why that’s awesome, please shoot yourself. You’re what’s wrong with America. Anyway, you’d think I’d like flying out of MKE. But fact is, it kind of sucks. Why? Because of places like Miller Brewhouse. It’s a Marriott gig. No offense to the Saints, but Mormons just shouldn’t try to run bars. It’s not in them. This place seems half-ass. A city that takes drinking beer this seriously shouldn’t be subjected to such a run-down, degenerate airport bar. C’mon guys. When all you can muster is beer in a glass, I get to piss on the wall."

Samuel Adams Brewhouse ~ Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Terminal A, After Security
"If you’ve ever wondered what airport bars are like in prison, check out the Sam Adams Pub in Terminal A. First off, it’s Terminal A, the ghetto terminal. If ever there was a place that needed a good, solid bar--a place where you could go kill the pain--this is it. Instead, you got the Sam Adams Pub. Cramped seating? Check. Wait staff that struggles to keep up with more than one table? Check. A menu with maybe a half-dozen options? Check. Food comes from the sketchy looking deli across the hall? Bet your ass. And, of course, there’s the crap selection of mass-produced beer, all at prices you’d expect to pay at FedEx Field or the Mayflower. Yeah, this is what airport bars are like in prison. I’ve got the throbbing pain to prove it."

New Belgium Hub ~ Denver International Airport, Concourse B (far east side) near gate B 80
"If you're like me, when you have the time to Crush at an airport bar, you want to make sure you find a good one. If you happen to have a flight at the very end of the B concourse (usually shorter flights in between the state of CO, and to ones close by, ie, wyoming, montana ) you know you have a friend at the end of the concourse in the New Belgium Hub. No more running to your flight all the way down the concourse cuz you had to many cold ones, this one is right near the end. Great service and good TVs for the game. Go ahead, you can make that trip to the end of the concourse and know you will be taken care of."

Le Grand Comptoir ~ Bush Intercontinental Airport, Terminal C, South, Main Lobby
"When I first realized that I'd be flying through Houston I was not thrilled about it. Texas doesn't excite me much to say the least; However, as I was strolling from one gate to the next I saw this little wine bar and damn near fell over. I almost asked somebody to pinch me as I couldn't believe what I was seeing in Texas of all places.

Once I found my gate, I quickly returned to the wine bar. This place is incredible. Talk about a nice way to spend a layover. The food is fantastic and pairs very well with the wine offerings. And if you're not a big wine fan, they have a full bar and lots of beers... it's a great atmosphere, and definitely worthy of your layover dollars. Go out of your way to find this place."

Legend's Bar ~ Detroit Metro Airport, North Terminal, Baggage Claim
"5 stars simply because this bar is located in baggage claim. Whoever the genius was that planned this... I salute you! I want to hug you and invite you to family functions. This my friends is the real deal. A bar at baggage claim. Never before have I been so damn happy about my bags not showing up very fast. Take ur time bag handlers. Maybe lose my bag please. I'm content. "

Sky Bridge ~ Chicago O'Hare International Airport, Terminal 2, Near F7
"Let's face it. If you are in the F concourse, you have no reason to smile. There's a CRJ or Embraer in your immediate future.

This 6 chair shithole wouldn't rank a "1" except for the fact that they have the requisite booze needed to get through the next 2 hours to Appleton, Madison, Sioux Falls, or Tulsa.

Fight your way through the rest of your peers and hope the bartender notices your plea for help. Then, slide over and let the next poor battered bastard get his $8 Sam Adams."

Burke in a Box ~ Las Vegas McCarran International Airport, C Gates
""Jim", I said to my namesake as I made my way into Burke's, "I feel like Sammy the Bull himself has worked me over." "You look like you've taken a beating. Did the machines get the better of you?" He asked as he continued washing glasses. I felt through my pockets for a few crumpled ones to pay for my drink and said "Worse. I was at an industry event until 3 a.m, where Japanese salarymen breathed unfiltered cigarette smoke in my face, a terrorized goat left his mark on the buffet table, and someone vomited on my shoes. I spent the rest of the night tearing down booths and now I'm taking it all to Beijing where we'll set it all up again next week. I need a drink and a meal."

Jim, being at least ten years my senior, knows things. For example, when someone sidles into your bar at 9 a.m. needing food and a drink, what he means is "make it a Bloody Mary and make it a double." He didn't wait for me to verbalize my request, he just started assembling. After a few minutes activity, he placed a pint glass of goodness in front of me with the requisite stalk of celery. He apologized for the quality of the mix they used. "It's the same sauce they use for pizzas in the restaurant next door, but I'm pretty sure it has tomatoes in it." "Normally, " says my new mixologist friend, "any tale involving a goat and someone puking on your shoes would be a worthy story, but this is Las Vegas and that only ranks about 1 on a scale to ten. You computer types need to take a lesson from the cowboys we get during the National Finals Rodeo--*they* know how to have a party with livestock."

We spent the better part of an hour talking about golf courses we've played and how much alimony costs in Vegas, where one marriage in 7 lasts longer than the lease payment on a Lexus. Another Bloody Mary later, the reality sunk in that I was in yet another airport bar run by Delaware or HMS Host, paying $12 on my personal AMEX for a $4 drink and happy to do so. And Jim was just another good Samaritan doling out liquid life to us poor battered bastards as we go about the world, doing business and trying to keep some small portion of our souls intact."

Backlot Deli ~ Los Angeles International Airport, Terminal 1, Near Gate 4B
"I'm sitting at Back Lot Bar in LAX right now with a pint to my right and my laptop open. Not much to write about here other than for a business geek like me, its good to know that the back corner table has an outlet for recharging your BlackBerry.. Not much on tap other than Heininken, Bud Light, Miller Lite, and Sam Adams, but they're all wet and cold and the trees from the atrium behind give you a little break from the airport hustle. Of course, now I have to pee - good luck getting someone to watch your laptop, bag and beer at a frickin' airport!"

Burke in a Box ~ Las Vegas McCarran International Airport, C Gates
"If you're like me, you understand the importance of diet and exercise. I wasn't just born with these Hot Buns! No matter what that BITCH Lance tells you, I won my four--count em, Lance, FOUR!--Mr. Hot Buns USA titles from dedication and hard, hard work. Sometimes, though, you need a break from training. That's how me and the "boys" ended up in Vegas. Now, when I'm not training, I like to drink what I like to drink. And to me, that's a 7-and-7, blended rocks, with 10 maraschino cherries and sugar on the rim. I hate it when bartenders get all "really?!?" when I order my "Lucky Sevens." They're just jealous because of the Hot Buns, I think. Anyway, I'm happy to report that the bartenders Burke's Box were perfectly pleasant. Thanks guys. You know I'll come again!

La Hacienda Mexican Restaurant ~ Nashville International Airport, Concourse A, Gate A2
"On Tap: nothing.

La Hacienda was my last stop on my BNA bar crawl endeavor and I was pressed for time. This was a definite chug and run.

It was near closing time and the service was good so they are getting the benefit of the doubt with the 4 stars. The place was empty, but Telemundo was on the TV which made me think they had to serve authentic Mexican food. "

Tennessee Tavern ~ Nashville International Airport, Concourse B, Gate B2
"On Tap: Budweiser, Bud Light, Bass & Sam Adams.

This is a straight-up airport bar. When I saw 'tavern' in the title and the whiskey barrels adorning the front as I was walking up my expectations were high...but very ordinary.

Small Bar seating, chinsey pours, chinsey service...but the food could be the saving grace here. The guy next to me ordered a pulled pork sandwich and the serving was huge. I looked at the menu and noticed the prices were very reasonable compared to my first two stops."

Tootsies Orchid Lounge ~ Nashville International Airport, Concourse C, Gate 6
"On tap: Miller Lite, Bud Light, Heineken, Shock Top & Sam Adams.

First Impression: Live music at an airport...true story.

Tootsies was stop number 3 and had a great charm and folksy feel. Very hospitable staff and the plethora of pics wall-to-wall adds to the charm.

I noticed that there were several people that came in only to eat...as someone unfamiliar with the Nashville...I figured that Whitt's BBQ is a big deal around here.

The biggest problem with this place is when the music stopped, you just found yourself awkwardly staring into your beer reflecting on your live...realizing that you are only one misstep from complete failure and you are not the favorite child in the family.

So yeah, make sure there is music playing."

Gibson Cafe ~ Nashville International Airport, Concourse C, Gate C20
"On Tap: Budweiser, Bud Light, Sam Adams & Shock Top.

My first impression of the second bar on my BNA bar crawl was I really, really like this place. When I read on the sign out front that for $3.00 you could add ANY shot to your beer purchase...well it was love at first sight. Bright lights, great music and vintage guitars adorn the walls.

The bar was very lively with everyone openly talking to one another about where they were coming from and where they were going. Not sure if this was do to the free pouring of alcohol or shot and a beer special.

This felt more of a bar-bar with plenty of space, and not the airport bar where they shoehorn the most amount people into the least amount of space.

They card absolutely everyone...if you have an expired ID, no dice.

Great service, but the food portions looked like two White Castles for the price of a Kobe burger. Drink here...think twice about eating."

O'Charley's ~ Nashville International Airport, Concourse C, Gate 10
"I had a two and a half hour layover from Chicago to Tampa and decided that a BMA bar crawl made the most sense.

One important item that made this process enjoyable was the flight departure times in all of the establishments. Very handy in the bar crawl time logistics department.

On Tap Bud Light, Miller Lite, Heineken & Sam Adams.

I'm glad I got this one out of the way first. I don't like any of the faux Americana style restaurants, where the menu consists of burgers or more burgers...but if you want the safest bet food-wise this is your best bet.

Ful Liquor bar..BUT...they use the automated pour for the liquor and as a patron at an airport bar I just feel like I'm being double-ly ripped off.

Advice...order a martini, it is the same price as a mixed drink, but you gat an extra .5oz of alcohol.

The fanciest thing about O'Charley's was my receipt was given to me in a Brandy Snifter."

New Belgium Hub ~ Denver International Airport, Concourse B (far east side) near gate B 80
"It's New Belgium... that's just the start. Great beers, great service and not surprisingly delicious food. It is a bit of a trek to find this place, but if you have the time, it is worth every bit of effort. Rotating seasonal beers along with all of the regular delicious New Belgium selections make this bar one of my all time favorite airport bars. Furthermore, all the servers and bartenders are great, trust me, you are in for a good time if you go the distance and imbibe at this place."

Vino Volo ~ Seattle - Tacoma International Airport, Central Terminal
"This place is phenomenal. Not many airports where you can actually experience a wine bar and drink really good wine all while indulging in small plates filled with delicious cheeses and meats. "In any other airport, this would be the standard, it would be better than the norm actually. But it was the end of my vacation, I'm in paradise for christs sake, and I just wanted one last island experience. All that being said, the service was very fast for island standards, and they do have a local micro or two as well as a couple of large flat screen tv's... so I guess in the end, they are doing you a favor and easing you back to normality after your vacation. "Nothing to write home about, but it was open and they did serve booze. Wanted to go to Big Foot next door but there was no room. We sat in the open area and had friendly & prompt service which was nice considering how busy it was. We must have enjoyed it more than we realized because we almost missed our flight... oops. I'd go back if there weren't any tables available over at Big Foot which looks like a really cool bar. Yeah, check out Big Foot first and if there's no room, then come here. "

Mission Bar and Grill ~ San Francisco International Airport, Terminal 3, Boarding Area E near Gate 64
"The only bar amongst the gates at the American terminal. It is mostly tables, and has a small bar in the back. The food is short order and a step above fast food. El Cholo ~ Los Angeles International Airport, Terminal 5, Near Gate 54A
"Stumbled upon this place while looking for a bite before a flight to JFK. Its the usual Airport bar (decorative empty booze bottles behind the bar, check your ID even if you're 90). This place is set apart by two things: 1) The Mexican food, while the "americanized" type, is actually very good (beats your average Mexican restaurant). 2) Fernando, the bartender, is top-notch and has been working at LAX bars for 32 years."

Schlafly's Taproom ~ Lambert - St. Louis International Airport, Concourse B
"4 stars just because you're in St. Louis and there's a craft brew with it's own airport bar. Of course my Schlafly Pale Ale was served in the 20oz Bud Light glass but its what's inside that counts. One gig for having the Octoberfest on tap as the seasonal in January. Just so happens Schlafly has a great ESB out now so was disappointed not to find it on tap. Clean, quiet, plenty of tables, stools, TV views, etc. to make this a great bar in terminal B at Lambert. Didn't have the food but I almost went all in when seeing and smelling the bourbon BBQ chicken. We'll be consider Air Tran more often just to have the opportunity to stop back in."

Bigfoot Food & Spirits ~ Seattle - Tacoma International Airport, North Satellite (b/t gates N1 & N16)
"The friendliest airport bar I have ever been to. The bar tender is chatting up everyone and not in a flirty way, its more of an "everyone knows your name" kind of way. The food smells and looks delicious. Pulled pork sandos, nachos, not a healthy food joint but certainly a better meal than a to go soggy sandwich that you can get next door. Hands down it is the most appealing place in Terminal N."

Rogue Ales Public House ~ Portland International Airport, Concourse D
"It was 8am and I could hardly see straight (I'm not a morning person). Stumbling towards my gate in the D concourse, my eye was caught by the luminous beacon in the distance that was the Rogue Brewery Pub. Dragging along my unsuspecting companion, I felt immediate rejuvenation with simple expectation of what was to come. Saddling up to the bar, the resident wench inquired to my libation preference. "Bloody, Stat."
"Double for $3 extra?"
"Pope shit in the woods?"
And it was on. Good bloody. Appropriate ratios of horseradish to worcestershire sauce. My only discontent was fuel by my disdain for the garnish that included 3 devil fruit, aka, olives.
As I sipped away, I found myself reading of the new seasonal offerings from Rogue. Be it now 8:30am, I felt comfortable ordering up a few brewskies. Double Dead Guy was the one for me. I have grown fond of the original over the years and thought double the Dead, double the fun, so let's roll the dice. I shit you not when I say this was the best damn beer I ever had at an airport. I ordered a pint and the wench told me "no". They only served this badboy in 10oz glasses as it packs a 9.8% punch.
"I'll take 3".

Tigin Irish Pub & Restaurant ~ Dallas - Fort Worth International Airport, Terminal D (near D20)
"On many occasions, the food you find at the airport is either bad quality, unhealth fast food or bar food, overly expensive, or any combination of the above. But in the past couple years airports have been renovating and improving their shopping and restaurant choices. Dallas/Fort Worth is one of the leading US airports with their relatively new international terminal.

Tigin Irish Pub & Restaurant: With very little seating, at peak times at the airport, most seats are taken but waits for a small party (under 4 people) usually take less than 15 minutes. Southwestern Rollóg - combination of spicy fried chicken, buffalo sauce, red chile aioli, pico de gallo, pepper jack cheese, romaine lettuce wrapped and rolled in a gourmet spinach tortilla: Bookmakers Steak Sandwich (medium rare): I was surprised it wasn't shredded beef being called steak. Although the steak came out relatively rare compared to other restaurants, the surface of the steak prior to cutting on the premises seems to be cooked well and the steak was juicy and tender. The potato wedges were crispy on the outside and soft and hot on the inside. Priced around $12 it's really food quality for inside or outside an airport.

Service can be a bit slow as there aren't many servers compared to tables but the quality of the food and value more than make up for it. If you're in DFW airport and you have the time, I recommend coming here for a lunch or dinner even if you're not in this particular terminal (take the DFW skylink!). Eric Tummy Points: 4 out of 5"

Vino Volo ~ Baltimore/Washington International Airport, Concourse A
"I am a HUGE fan of this chain. Great wines by the glass, bottles to buy and nice heavy food snacks. Bonus-most tables have outlets. A nice oasis "

Revolucion ~ John F. Kennedy International Airport, Terminal 5, Gates 11-12
"The bar has a great selection of original premium cocktails. I recommend the Paulistino. But be warned - the special drinks are pricey. The food, however, was just OK."
