It's St. Patrick's Day and you are stuck in the airport... so make the best of it! You have no excuse but to enjoy yourself while you wait for your flight. It's perfectly acceptable to celebrate St. Patrick's Day while in an airport and we are here to assist you.
St. Patrick's Day is always celebrated on March 17th and is named after, you guessed it, St. Patrick. Originally the color associated with the day was blue, however, over time green has become the color of this blessed holiday. In Chicago, they actually turn the Chicago river green for the day! And if you see someone not wearing green on March 17th, it is perfectly acceptable (rather expected) that you will pinch them. So go pinch a stranger and ask them why they aren't wearing green. It could be a really fun, or an awkward way to start up a conversation.
A while back our friends at Cheapflights.com put together a great beer lovers guide for airports. This guide can be a huge help while you travel. As Matt Phillips from the WSJ said, "Originally published to help fliers find suitable spots to visit during Oktoberbest, it can be re-purposed for other ethnically-based beer bashes." If you enjoy beer, take a second to check out this worthwhile guide. Whatever form of liquid refreshment you choose prior to heading up to 30,000 feet, be sure to check out our site AirportBars.com to help you locate the best bar for your situation.
Happy St. Patrick's Day! And if you have a good photo of yourself enjoying a drink (or pinching someone) at a fine airport bar establishment, be sure to share it with us by emailing info[at]airportbars.com or send us a picture @airportbars on twitter. Cheers! Or as the Irish say... Sláinte!
