New Belgium Hub ~ Denver International Airport, Concourse B (far east side) near gate B 80
"As far as I’m concerned, there are exactly two things in life that are inexcusable. There is never a good reason to invade Russia in the wintertime, and there is never a good excuse for a half-empty airport bar to keep a rapidly-sobering-up flier waiting for eight--count ’em, eight--painful minutes before taking a drink order. (It was a shift change, but still. Fat kids can run a mile in eight minutes. What’s their excuse?)
Compounding my displeasure was the decor: exposed ductwork, blonde pine trim, muted pastel walls. If that’s your thing, super. But for me, it was like taking a trip back to the hottest gastropubs of 1987. The lack of wireless connectivity in the back room sucked, as did the painfully slow service. Maybe they’re trying to imitate European standards of efficiency. If that’s the case, it needs to stop.
The chef salad I ordered was totally unremarkable--not good, not bad, just meh. The one thing this place has going for it is some unusually good craft beers. I had their dark ale and I was impressed with how much punch it packed. So, to sum up, like Belgium itself, unless you’re already nearby, it’s probably not worth hauling your ass over there."
