While fying through Reagan Airport I stopped to grab a sandwich at Cibo's. The person that rang me was reading at the register the whole time I was there and didn't acknowledge anyone. I could have walked out with the entire store and she would not have known. When I finally had her attention from her book she rang up the transaction and didn't say a word. I asked her name and she replied TIGI which was on her nametag. I asked where was she from and she said Ethiopia and I thanked her and left. Her service was the worst I've ever experienced. It appears she was hired to stand and read at the register rather than attend to guests. They need to step up on service there and hire someone who cares about their job because it was obvious she didn't.

They say D.C. is Hollywood for ugly people, and this place lives to prove it. It's not so much that the drinks are mostly made of grapes, which is great if you're a child or a biblical personage, but that the whole place strains at a self-importance it can't begin to attain. Look, if you're in an airport and you want to hit a wine bar, super. You're classy. We get it. But you know what? You're getting the same microwaved greasy crap, with the same crappy plastic utensils, as the schlubby tourists down at TGIFs. [Shudder.] We'll all pretend to be impressed by your off-the-rack Burberrys pinstripes and only-somewhat-clashing Brooks Brothers half Windsor. In the meanwhile, enjoy your too warm, overpriced Chilean red. God knows, you deserve it.
